Refund and Returns Policy

Last Updated: August 8, 2026

Marine Generators Depot wants customers to understand the conditions that apply to returns, cancellations, and refunds before completing a purchase. Because we supply products ranging from small service parts to high-value marine generator sets, return eligibility varies according to the type of product, whether it was specially ordered or configured, and whether it has been installed or used.

This policy applies to purchases made directly from Marine Generators Depot unless different terms are expressly stated in a written quotation, sales agreement, or product-specific offer.

1. Return Policy Summary

Stocked Parts & Accessories

Eligible stocked parts and accessories may be returned within 30 calendar days after delivery, provided they:

  • Are unused and uninstalled;
  • Are in new and resalable condition;
  • Include all original packaging, labels, manuals, hardware, and accessories;
  • Have not been damaged after delivery; and
  • Have received prior return authorization from Marine Generators Depot.

Approved customer-requested returns may be subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Standard-Stock Marine Generators

Standard-stock marine generators may be eligible for return within 14 calendar days after delivery, provided:

  • Return authorization is requested before the generator is installed, commissioned, fueled, connected, or operated;
  • The unit remains unused and in original condition;
  • All supplied accessories, documentation, packaging, pallet, or crate are retained;
  • The generator has not been modified or damaged; and
  • Marine Generators Depot provides written return authorization.

Approved customer-requested generator returns may be subject to a 15% restocking fee, plus applicable outbound and return freight charges.

Because marine generators are high-value freight products, do not return a generator without written authorization and shipping instructions from Marine Generators Depot.

Special-Order and Configured Products

Products sourced, ordered, manufactured, modified, or configured specifically for a customer are generally non-cancellable and non-returnable once procurement or production has begun, except where:

  • Marine Generators Depot supplied the wrong product;
  • The product arrives damaged and the claim is valid under the applicable shipping procedure;
  • A covered defect applies under the applicable warranty; or
  • Applicable law provides otherwise.

Special-order status will normally be identified in the quotation, product information, invoice, or order communication.

Google requires merchants to make return eligibility, timeframes, methods, and costs clear and consistent between the website and Merchant Center.

2. Return Authorization Is Required

All returns require prior approval.

Before sending a product back, contact:

support@marinegeneratorsdepot.com

Please provide:

  • Customer or company name
  • Order or invoice number
  • Product description
  • Manufacturer and model
  • Part number or generator serial number where applicable
  • Quantity
  • Reason for the return
  • Photographs where requested

If approved, Marine Generators Depot will provide return instructions and, where applicable, a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) or other return reference.

Products returned without authorization may be refused, delayed, or returned to the sender.

Do not automatically ship returns to our South Burlington business address. The correct return location may be a warehouse, distributor, manufacturer, or other designated receiving facility.

3. Return Window Begins at Delivery

For eligible products, the applicable return period begins on the date the shipment is recorded as delivered to the customer or the customer’s nominated receiving location.

This is particularly important for international orders, where transit can take considerably longer than domestic shipping. Google’s current merchant guidance recommends that return windows for international shipments be measured from estimated delivery rather than from the original purchase date.

4. Product Condition Requirements

To qualify for a standard customer-requested return, the product must remain suitable for resale.

We may refuse or reduce a refund where a returned product:

  • Has been installed;
  • Has been commissioned or operated;
  • Has been fueled or filled with fluids;
  • Shows physical damage or excessive handling;
  • Has missing components;
  • Has altered wiring or connectors;
  • Has been modified;
  • Has damaged or missing packaging;
  • Has missing identification labels or serial numbers; or
  • Cannot reasonably be resold as new.

Opening external shipping packaging solely to inspect a product does not automatically make it non-returnable, provided the product itself remains unused and all manufacturer packaging is preserved.

5. Non-Returnable Products

Unless defective, incorrectly supplied by us, or otherwise required by law, the following are generally not eligible for customer-requested return:

  • Custom-configured generators
  • Special-order products
  • Made-to-order products
  • Installed generators
  • Commissioned or operated generators
  • Installed parts
  • Used components
  • Opened consumable products
  • Products modified at the customer’s request
  • Electrical or electronic components that have been installed or connected
  • Items without original serial or identification labels
  • Products damaged after delivery
  • Clearance or final-sale products specifically identified as non-returnable before purchase

Where a product is non-returnable, we aim to identify that condition before purchase rather than introduce it after the sale.

6. Correct Part and Generator Selection

Marine generator components can vary by model, serial number, production range, voltage, frequency, and configuration.

Customers are encouraged to provide accurate:

  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Part number
  • Identification-plate photographs
  • Electrical configuration
  • Vessel requirements

before ordering.

If Marine Generators Depot recommends or supplies an incorrect product despite receiving complete and accurate information, contact us promptly so we can review the issue.

If an incorrect component is purchased because the customer supplied an incorrect model, serial number, part number, electrical specification, or other required information, the return will normally be treated as a customer-requested return and may be subject to the applicable restocking and freight charges.

7. Restocking Fees

Approved customer-requested returns may be subject to a 15% restocking fee.

A restocking fee may apply where:

  • The customer changes their mind;
  • The customer orders the wrong product;
  • The product was correctly supplied but is no longer required;
  • A generator return requires receiving inspection and reprocessing; or
  • Supplier or manufacturer return charges apply to an approved return.

No restocking fee will normally be charged where Marine Generators Depot confirms that:

  • We shipped a materially incorrect product; or
  • We made a fulfillment error requiring the return.

Any applicable restocking fee will be communicated as part of the return authorization.

8. Return Shipping Costs

Customer-Requested Returns

For returns resulting from a change of mind, incorrect customer selection, or another reason not caused by Marine Generators Depot, the customer is normally responsible for:

  • Return freight;
  • Appropriate shipping insurance;
  • Packaging;
  • Carrier fees; and
  • Any associated customs or transportation costs.

Original outbound shipping charges are generally non-refundable for customer-requested returns.

Our Fulfillment Error

Where Marine Generators Depot confirms that we shipped the wrong product or made another fulfillment error, we will provide reasonable return-shipping instructions and will be responsible for the authorized return transportation.

Do not arrange expensive generator freight independently and expect reimbursement unless we have authorized the shipping arrangement in writing.

9. Generator Freight Returns

Generators and other large products require freight-specific return procedures.

If a generator return is approved:

  • It must normally be secured to an appropriate pallet or crate;
  • Original protective packaging should be reused where available;
  • Generator fluids must comply with carrier shipping requirements;
  • The product must be protected against tipping and transit damage;
  • Freight must be arranged according to the return instructions provided.

The customer is responsible for any return damage caused by inadequate repackaging where the return freight is the customer’s responsibility.

10. Incorrect or Missing Products

If your shipment contains an incorrect product, incorrect quantity, or is missing an ordered item, contact us promptly at:

support@marinegeneratorsdepot.com

Please include photographs of:

  • The product received;
  • Product labels;
  • Packing slip;
  • Shipping packaging; and
  • Serial or part numbers where applicable.

Confirmed fulfillment errors will be corrected without applying a customer-error restocking fee.

11. Damaged Shipments

Shipping damage is handled under our Shipping Policy rather than as an ordinary customer-requested return.

For freight products, customers should inspect shipments at delivery where reasonably possible and record visible damage on the carrier’s delivery documentation.

If damage is discovered, retain:

  • Product packaging
  • Pallet or crate
  • Shipping labels
  • Delivery receipt
  • Photographs

and contact Marine Generators Depot promptly.

Do not install or operate visibly damaged products until we have reviewed the issue.

12. Defective Products

A suspected manufacturing defect is normally handled under our Warranty Policy and the applicable manufacturer’s written warranty.

A defective product should not automatically be returned without authorization because the manufacturer may require:

  • Technical diagnosis;
  • Inspection;
  • Warranty service;
  • Replacement of a component; or
  • Work through an authorized service provider.

Contact us before removing, disassembling, or returning a product believed to be defective whenever reasonably practical.

13. Order Cancellations

Standard Stock Orders

A standard-stock order may generally be cancelled without a restocking fee before it has entered final processing or been released for shipment.

Contact us immediately if cancellation is required.

Once an order has shipped, it will normally be handled under the applicable return procedure.

Special Orders and Configured Generators

Special-order or configured products may become non-cancellable once Marine Generators Depot has:

  • Submitted the order to the manufacturer or supplier;
  • Committed funds to procurement;
  • Begun configuration;
  • Started production; or
  • Incurred non-refundable supplier charges.

Where a supplier permits cancellation but imposes a cancellation charge, that cost may be deducted from any amount refunded, provided it is communicated to the customer.

14. Changes to an Order

Requests to change:

  • Generator model
  • Voltage
  • Frequency
  • Phase
  • Accessories
  • Delivery address
  • Quantity

should be made before procurement or shipping begins.

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes but cannot guarantee that an order can be modified once it has entered processing.

A change that converts an existing order into a special-order configuration may also change the applicable return conditions.

15. Refund Inspection

Returned products are inspected after receipt.

Marine Generators Depot may verify:

  • Model
  • Part number
  • Serial number
  • Physical condition
  • Completeness
  • Packaging
  • Signs of installation or use

before approving the refund.

Customers will be contacted if there is a material issue affecting refund eligibility.

16. Refund Processing Time

Once an eligible return has been received, inspected, and approved, Marine Generators Depot will normally process the refund within 5–10 business days.

Refunds will generally be issued to the original payment method unless another arrangement is required or agreed.

After we issue the refund, the customer’s bank, credit-card issuer, or payment provider may require additional time to post the credit.

17. Refund Amount

For an approved customer-requested return, the refund may be calculated as:

Eligible product purchase price
minus applicable restocking fee
minus non-refundable outbound freight or other authorized charges

Return freight paid directly by the customer is not included in the refund.

Taxes collected by Marine Generators Depot will be refunded where applicable to the returned amount.

18. Original Shipping Charges

Original shipping and freight charges are generally non-refundable where:

  • The order was correctly fulfilled; and
  • The customer voluntarily returns the product.

If the return results from a confirmed Marine Generators Depot fulfillment error, the applicable shipping treatment will be reviewed accordingly.

19. International Returns

International returns require authorization before shipment.

Customers are generally responsible for customer-requested international return freight, customs documentation, brokerage, duties, taxes, and other destination or export charges unless the return results from a confirmed Marine Generators Depot fulfillment error.

Products should not be returned internationally without receiving instructions from us first.

Marine Generators Depot cannot guarantee recovery of customs duties or taxes paid directly to a foreign government. Customers may need to request those amounts from the applicable customs authority.

20. Freight Forwarders

If an order is delivered to a freight forwarder selected by the customer, customers should inspect or arrange inspection of the shipment at the forwarder’s location whenever possible.

Damage occurring during transportation independently arranged by the customer after delivery to the nominated freight forwarder may need to be addressed with the customer’s forwarder or carrier.

21. Exchanges

Where appropriate, an eligible return may be exchanged for another product instead of being refunded.

Any difference in:

  • Product price;
  • Shipping costs;
  • Taxes; or
  • Other applicable charges

must be settled before the replacement product is dispatched.

Generator exchanges remain subject to product availability and technical compatibility.

22. Refunds Are Not Warranty Reimbursements

A return/refund and a manufacturer warranty claim are separate processes.

A warranty may provide repair or replacement rather than a refund.

Please review our Warranty Policy for manufacturer warranty information covering the marine generator brands we supply.

23. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Returns and Refund Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or waive any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

Where applicable law requires different treatment from the general terms above, the legally required protection will apply.

24. Google Shopping and Merchant Center Transparency

Marine Generators Depot maintains this policy as a dedicated, publicly accessible return and refund page so customers can review the applicable conditions before purchasing.

Google Merchant Center requires merchants to clearly state whether returns are accepted, the applicable return window, the method for returning products, relevant fees, and the party responsible for return costs. Information submitted to Google should accurately match the policy displayed on the merchant’s website.

Google also identifies unclear, missing, or difficult-to-find return and refund information as a potential misrepresentation or website-quality issue.

For this reason, the terms on this page should also be reflected accurately in Marine Generators Depot’s checkout process and Merchant Center settings.
